A friend said that it’s not a good idea to have so much time between log entries, because it would cause me to lose readers.
(ahem)
Yes, I meant to write (heard that before?) but after, oh, a year, I thought that I’d need to come back with a newly-designed theme, new categories, new ideas, new point of view … but all that at once. RnR reboot!
Well, that didn’t really work out, with work, university and all. So, probably in line with the theme of the blog, I’m not going to hold off any longer and wait until I can make a perfect, big-deal reentry into the blogging world. Instead, I’m just going to start writing again, make the changes as I go, and hopefully give you some brand-new insights into psychology, music and obsecure martial arts.
Off we go.
It’s been a long time. How are ya? I’m good.
But enough chit-chat. I’ve promised changes, but life got in the way. Homework, teaching, making a living kept me away, and my focus has broadened beyond the martial arts and health. To complicate things, I felt I needed some kind of new manifesto before posting again. (I must have written that before …)
… but who cares? Why wait for the re-branding to post? That wouldn’t be very RnR, would it?
So. Back to posting. The re-branding will come when it comes.
Yep. It’s been a while. I apologize for going underground again, but I’ve been busier than I’ve ever been, with school, teaching, and work. Sadly, this blog has taken a back seat to, well, life.
But then I said, “screw it”. Other bloggers post more often with less.
So let’s try that. The “more often” part, anyway.
In case you were wondering where the photos have gone, I’ve decided to delete most of them, and only keep the images I’ve made myself or ones that point to and benefit another site. I just felt that it was hypocritical of me to use images created by others for my own benefit.
Just to get started, here’s a shot from my trip to China in 2007. Cute, eh?
The blog, it is a-changin’.
I haven’t posted in a while because I’ve been busy, but also because the mission of the blog has shifted slightly. I expect to broaden the focus to other disciplines, but still through the lens of Refine & Repeat, if that makes sense.

Sorry about the absence. On one hand, I’ve been busy, but on the other, I’ve been considering some new points of view (and reconsidering some old ones), hopefully leading to a deeper understanding of the topics on which I post. In particular, I’ve gone back to University for a Psychology degree which will no doubt inform many of the posts to come, but still in keeping with the RnR point of view.

Sorry for the interruption. It seems that part of the problem was the database at Network Solutions (our host), and the other part may lie in the theme I was using for this blog.
You see, the blog is basically a bunch of data stored somewhere. Through the miracle of modern HTML, with the click of a button or two, this data can be arranged in just about any layout I want. These layouts are called “themes”. Currently, I’m using a different theme from before, because the old one seems to be broken.
Don’t worry, I’ll find a good theme soon enough. Thanks for your patience.
Celebrating a year of unsolicited advice! Yessir!
It’s been a year since the first post at RnR, and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all those people who’ve commented over the year: Caprice, Bill and Mom! But of course, I also would like to thank all the stealth readers such as Ben L, Mike 2, John H, Doug N, Paul and Alex W. If you’re a reader, please let me know. Every now and then I check the stats on the site when I can find the stat-checking password, but aside from personal feedback given in conversation, I have no idea who reads this thing.
As part of the birthday celebrations I’ll do some housekeeping around the site to better reflect the way I do things now. The focus will be less on Tai Chi per se and more on general health, emphasizing an east-meets-west point of view as often as possible. There’ll also be some Yiquan in there, as well as whatever else I get into.
